If you enjoy fitness, wellness and the escape from the everyday Mankato is the getaway you’ve been looking for. Mankato has over 50 miles of paved local, county and state trails nestled in a scenic river valley for cyclists and runners. You’ll be ready to refuel with unique local cuisine and relax with a variety of nightly entertainment options.

8 a.m. – Fuel your day on the trail with breakfast and coffee at Tandem Bagels or the Fillin’ Station. While you’re there take out your Biking and Hiking guide and plan out your day choosing from one of our recommended loops created by local bike.

9 a.m.For biking enthusiasts, Mankato features some of the best trails in the state and scenic roadways with wide shoulders and little to moderate traffic. Our trail system offers a spectacular view of areas that may not always be explored, especially if you stick to the roads. Trail users will follow streams and cross upland and wetland areas, where one may see all kinds of wildlife. You never know what is around the next bend.

12 p.m. – Grab a bite to eat at the Dam Store at the historic Rapidan Dam. Save room for their legendary pie. Be sure to bring cash – the Dam Store is an old-school experience you won’t want to miss. Or pack a picnic lunch and sit by the river at the Red Jacket Trail Trestle Bridge. Then you’ll be ready to head back out on the trails.

3 p.m.Cool off from your ride, walk or run on the trails with a treat at Mom and Pops Ice Cream. You can indulge in over 30 flavors of ice cream, homemade fudge and coffee. Walk down the road to Riverfront Park (360° virtual tour) More Mankato icon and take in the view of the river while enjoying your afternoon treat.

6 p.m. – After a day on the trails you’ll be ready to refuel and relax. Our City Center is just a short distance from the Red Jacket Trailhead and the Minnesota River Trail. Take your time and sit outside at Pub 500 or enjoy the ambiance of Number 4.

8 p.m.Mankato is a regional center for arts, entertainment, shopping and nightlife. Stretch your legs and take a stroll in the City Center on the CityArt Walking Sculpture Tour or rest your feet at a local theater production.
