Welcome! We know that lately just going around the block could seem like an adventure. Thankfully the heart of southern Minnesota is open for adventure again. Greater Mankato businesses and all-around fun opportunities are renewed and ready to welcome you back out. We know you are excited to get back to your favorite activities, and our community is excited to provide you access to those activities with safety in mind. 

It’s time to come back out for dining, shopping, adventure or whatever you have been looking forward to doing once your freedom to roam has been granted. Just know that we are doing everything we can to keep our community a safe and healthy place while also providing outstanding service and experiences. The City of Mankato Council passed an emergency ordinance on July 6 which will require the use of a mask or face covering in places of public accommodation. The ordinance will take effect Friday, July 10, 2020 and be in effect for 60 days (starting July 6) unless modified by Council. Read the Greater Mankato Growth Blog article to  learn more.

What Businesses are Doing

Each business has their own safety procedures and are required by executive order to have a COVID-19 Preparedness Plan in place by June 29th. Please check out business social media or websites for the most up to date information on their clean and safe practices. In the meantime, here’s an idea of how our businesses are creating safe environments for staff and customers. 

  • Enhancing cleaning practices
  • Requiring frontline staff to wear masks and other PPE as necessary
  • Encouraging social distancing through signage and markers
  • Requiring guests to wear masks and other PPE as necessary
  • Screening employees for symptoms before every shift
  • Implementing “contactless” processes and payments wherever possible

What You Should Be Doing

Please do your part to keep our community safe and healthy by following the emergency ordinance with the required use of face masks or coverings in public accomodations. If you are feeling sick, please stay home and abide by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance of for everyday actions or traveler information to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses and the Minnesota Department of Health, which is leading the state and city preparedness and information dissemination.
