Fall is a fun time to get together with family and friends! There are so many festive gatherings happening in the GreenSeam region this time of year. Take a well-known autumn custom is Oktoberfest, for instance. Bier on Belgrade is North Mankato’s take on this German tradition. With beer samplings, a brat eating contest and keg bowling, Oktoberfest, Bier on Belgrade is sure to bring enjoyment for you and your lederhosen-wearing friends! Oktoberfest, Bier on Belgrade: Business on Belgrade presents its version of German heritage and fun. The 6th annual Bier on Belgrade is located in the Central Business District of Historical and Unique Beautiful Lower North Mankato. There is a fun filled day of activities, food vendors, live music, Bier sampling from local and world renown breweries planned. Ceremonial first beer with city officials, bean bag toss and keg bowling. Wear your Lederhosen and receive an extra free beer ticket with $15 admission. Must be 21 years of age to attend. Old Town Art Fair: Mankato’s Old Town district is a thriving community of artists, musicians, and other cultural creatives.The Coffee Hag, along with a handful of individuals from within the community, conceived the Old Town Art Fair as a stage for local talents, as well as those from surrounding areas. This event is about people. It’s about community. It’s about art, freedom and expression. Simply put, the Old Town Art Fair is music, art and soul! More>
Harvest Fest: Families will enjoy an evening of old fashioned outdoor fall fun at Minneopa State Park. Stay the entire time or join in the fun for an hour between 5 and 8 p.m. Saturday. Meet at the picnic shelter on the waterfalls side and enjoy a warm bonfire while waiting to go for a hayride through the park. There will be activities for the kids, an apple press and hot chocolate and marshmallows for everyone. Guests are invited to bring their own hot dogs, meat or other food to grill. Families may also want to take a short hike down a candle-lit trail into the waterfalls gorge before heading home. More>
Terrace View Fall Festival: Exciting things are happening at Terrace View Golf Course like the inaugural Terrace View Fall Festival, Mankato’s first event to celebrate harvest and community! Celebrate while taking in the joys of the season. You can easily spend an entire day at the festival, and even pick up your pumpkins, gourds, squash, and other fall decor, by Hay by George, on your way out…maybe even squeeze in a round of golf! Terrace View Fall Festival attractions include a large corn pit and straw bale maze, a toddler straw bale maze, tire tractor mountain, pumpkin launch, pumpkin patch and so much more! Every Saturday in September, Terrace View Fall Festival will offer hot air balloon rides from 4 to 6 p.m. More>
Mankato Farmers Market: The Mankato Farmers Market has been in Mankato for over 40 years. Shopping at and supporting the farmers’ market circulates money within our community, helping to keep it strong. Local farmers and artisans at the market continue to help our community thrive by recirculating your wisely spent dollars. Vendors at our market are required to make or produce their goods wholly or substantially from within 40 miles of Mankato. This stipulation keeps food miles, waste, and resource use to a minimum. They believe in healthy soils, foods, and families, practices that positively affect our community. The main outdoor Market is open every Saturday, rain or shine, through the second Saturday in October. Hours are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The Mankato Farmers’ Market is also open Tuesdays & Thursdays from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The market is located at 1895 Adams Street in the Best Buy parking lot. More>
